Yoga means to join or yoke to the infinite consciousness of the creator. Breath pranayama exercises connect you to your inner power, strength, and fortitude. A conscious breath yields a conscious and connected self. Paired with movement, posture and stretch, the circulatory body and nervous systems engage. Through activation and synchronization of the senses, body, mind, and spirit we balance the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems which in turn releases the feel good hormones like dopamine, serotonin, endorphins, and oxytocin. Many ascetics point out this reference of the “nectar” that is secreted from the higher glands, hypothalamus and pituitary as a pathway towards greater compassion, wisdom, and bliss expanding within and throughout the successful Yogi and Yogini.
